Personal Genealogist for the Day
Our Personal Genealogist for the Day (PGD) consultation sessions are a service available digitally – through Zoom – for beginning researchers. This service allows you to consult with a genealogist, who will actively research alongside you and is a great opportunity to observe and to learn research methodologies. You are able to submit any family information prior to your appointment and the consulting genealogist will conduct research on your project online over the course of a (3) or (5) hour session.
This service is being offered via Zoom video chat or in-person at our NEHGS Library in Boston. The American Ancestors Research Center has re-opened on an appointment-only basis.
Take your experience to the next level with an extended research session with our Personal Genealogist for the Day service. An American Ancestors genealogist will work side by side with you either online or at the Library and Archives to guide you through records and help advance your research.
This service includes a quick review of your family history project and a dedicated session (or sessions) of guidance and record-searching. In-person and online sessions are offered as half-day (three-hour) or full day (five-hour) options. Online sessions include recordings for you to keep and review later.
With in-person sessions, if it’s appropriate for your project, our experts can also show you how to begin researching at local repositories such as the Boston Public Library, the Massachusetts State Archives, or the Massachusetts Registry of Vital Records and Statistics.
