To celebrate the launch of the Jewish Neighborhood Voices online exhibit, the Wyner Family Jewish Heritage Center is hosting a lively community reception on Sunday, October 15, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Williams School in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

Join us to:  

— Hear stories about growing up in Chelsea, Lynn, Roxbury and Dorchester in the last century

— Learn about 20th century Jewish history

— Be transported to a delicatessen of the ‘40s/’50s

— Meet Jewish Neighborhood Voices oral history narrators

— Enjoy deli-style refreshments and good company!

The event will include a speaking program and audience Q&A starting at 2:30 p.m..

Jewish dietary laws will be observed. 

Dress code: ’40s/‘50s-themed attire optional.

If you are planning to attend with friends and/or family, we ask that each person register for the event individually.  

 

Who is this event for? 

This event is for everyone! Whether you grew up in one of these neighborhoods of Greater Boston during the 20th century, live in Chelsea, Lynn, Roxbury or Dorchester now, are interested in learning more about the history of Jewish immigrant neighborhoods, or just want an opportunity to wear vintage clothing, this event is for you.

 

When and where is the event?

The event will take place on October 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the cafeteria at the Williams School in Chelsea, Massachusetts (180 Walnut Street, Chelsea, MA). The main entrance to the building is on Arlington Street.

 

Parking Information

For those driving, there is ample parking available in parking lots associated with the middle school (180 Walnut Street, Chelsea, MA).
