Based on a trove of original documents, The Pirate’s Wife reveals remarkable insights into The Golden Age of Piracy and offers a fascinating female-centered view of a time in history typically oriented around the accomplishments of men.

Writing in a lively, conversational tone, historian and journalist Dr. Daphne Palmer Geanacopoulos brings to life Sarah Kidd (1670-1744). With her husband, Captain William Kidd, she lived in New York, at a time the American colonies were a pirate haven. He was one of the most notorious pirates to prowl the seas. In addition to a pirate’s wife, Sarah was a mother, merchant, and socialite; she was also key to Kidd’s fight for his life as he was accused of piracy. With him, she was initially arrested and jailed. For a time, she too was a fugitive and international outlaw. Don’t miss hearing the dramatic story of Sarah Kidd and this cinematic, impeccably researched work of narrative nonfiction, The Pirate’s Wife.
