Help us collect and conserve family papers!
The Brim DeForest Library is one of the nation’s leading genealogical research centers. It contains more than a million documents, including public.manuscripts, records, books, microfilms, photographs, artifacts, electronic resources, and other items. Your support helps us run this unique resource, to review, process and digitize collections for members and the public.
Our Research and Library Services staff processes hundreds of donated collections each year. To do this, knowledgeable, trained staff must read through each collection, organize it, and prepare it for digitization in our Digital and Library Archives. Some items need to be conserved in our book conservation laboratory. This process takes many hours, days, weeks, and months.
Costs associated with this work include stipends for interns, money required to pay for conservation materials and book conservation staff, payment to an outside conservation lab for fragile items, and print and digital collateral to educate the public about these valuable materials.
