Join us for prize-winning historian Richard Bell’s presentation recasting America’s war of independence as a transformative international event. Gain insight from his enlightening conversation with fellow historian Eliga Gould, an expert on the American Revolution.

In The American Revolution and the Fate of the World, award-winning historian Richard Bell explores the full breadth and depth of America’s founding event. His research reveals that the Revolution was not only the colonies’ triumphant liberation from the rule of an overbearing England; it was also a cataclysm that pulled in participants from around the globe and threw the world order into chaos. Repositioning America’s war of independence at the center of an international web, Bell shows how it fundamentally transformed the way the world works by disrupting trade, restructuring penal systems, stirring famine, and creating the first global refugee crisis. Don’t miss Bell’s unexpected work of American history and his conversation with historian Eliga Gould about what we thought we knew about our country’s “creation story” and what is truth. Grounded in the stories of individuals and families, The American Revolution and the Fate of the World conveys the impact of these world-wide developments at home and abroad.
