Dorothy Kauffman

Chief Advancement Officer

Dorothy brings an exceptional breadth of experience in advancement, nonprofit leadership, and mission-driven organizations. Most recently, Dorothy served as Chief Advancement Officer at the Center for Jewish History, where she created and implemented the organization’s first comprehensive advancement plan, secured transformational gifts and led the communications and marketing teams. Previously, she served as CAO at DOROT, strengthening intergenerational connections for older adults, and held the senior development role at the National Minority Supplier Development Council, advancing business opportunities in communities of color.

Earlier in her career, Dorothy served as an Executive Director of cultural and philanthropic organizations, including the Royal Academy of Arts and The Jerusalem Foundation. Before moving into the nonprofit sector, she worked in media, publishing, and classical music including as a producer and on-air personality at WQXR, a premier classical music station with a global audience and at RosettaBooks, a pioneer in digital publishing.

Dorothy earned a BA in English from Barnard College (Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude), an MS in Journalism from Columbia University, and an MBA in International Marketing from Fordham University.
