Philanthropy is not only one of the oldest traditions at NEHGS, it is also the key ingredient that has led to the success in every aspect of the Society. Our collections, professional expertise, scholarly journals, and more – including this very web site – are all the products of our members’ generous contributions. Some give to preserve, others to enhance, and some simply to invest in the field’s leading organization that is connecting families and advancing history.
The Society’s Development Team will be pleased to work with you to help you achieve your philanthropic intentions in support of NEHGS and its many programs. You can give online, or view more information on how NEHGS has created a comprehensive array of options that not only make it easy to donate, but also maximize the impact to the Society and tax savings to the donor.
Did you know that by contributing appreciated securities to NEHGS you can get two tax breaks? You can deduct the entire amount as a charitable deduction and avoid paying the capital gains tax on the increased value from the time it was purchased. Shares can be transferred directly into the NEHGS brokerage account.

Volunteers aid NEHGS with onsite help or at home locations scattered across the country and abroad. They can work in the library, manuscripts, research, conservation, website, or membership areas at NEHGS headquarters or on special projects from home. View our volunteer information.
Premium membership levels include all of the benefits of a regular membership, and also include a gift to the organization.
NEHGS encourages our members and friends to consider donating their genealogical materials. View detailed information on donating to our special collections.
