  • Silhouettes of Northend and Charles Cogswell, of Berwick, Maine

  • These are silhouettes of two members of the Northend Cogswell family of Berwick, Maine. Both silhouettes were made in 1805. The first is of Northend Cogswell, who was born circa 1762, probably in Berwick. He married Elizabeth Lambert (c1774–1828), possibly of Boston, Massachusetts, in 1794. Northend and Elizabeth had at least seven children: Elizabeth , Charles Northend, Mary Ann, William L., Frederick, Maria, and Maria. The second silhouette is of the second child, Charles Northend Cogswell, who was born April 24, 1799, in Berwick.

Northend Cogswell died February 12, 1837, at the age of seventy-five and Charles Cogswell died October 11, 1843, at age forty-six.
