    1.   AMES/WEBB/FETMER - Vital Records of Canaan, Maine, L.D.S. film. states that Isaac Fetmer & Lydia Webb were married 20 December 1817.  “Isaac Fetmer” should be Isaac F. Ames.  A town record and an obituary for Isaac Ames from the Independent Reporter of 22 April 1909, are proof for this correction.  [Lydia Webb, a descendant of John Alden, is #37,109 in the Mayflower Index. Her grandson, Ruel F. Ames of Stockton, California, is 51102.]

Submitted December 12, 1986, by a descendant, Margaret Brown Curtis, 9 Granite St., #12, Methuen, MA 01844.

    2.   MERRIAM/MERIAM - The History and Genealogy of the Lexington, Massachusetts, Munroes, by R. S. Munroe (1966), p. 37, omits Josiah and a second Rebecca, the fifth and tenth children of Josiah & Lydia (Wheeler) Meriam. See The Merriam Genealogy in England and America, by C. H. Pope (1906), pp. 75-77. [Note: Concord, Massachusetts, Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1635-1850,  printed by the town in 1891, p. 190, records the birth of Josiah, Jr., son of Josiah & Lydia Meriam. 27 June 1755.  There is no record for the birth of a second Rebecca.  After 1740 or so, however, Massachusetts V.R.s are often incomplete.]

    3.    MOSEMAN/MOSSMAN/BEMIS/BARNES The Bemis History and Genealogy, by Thomas Waln-Morgan Draper (1900), p. 97: Nathan Moseman should read Nathan Mossman.  Celestia F. Bemes should read Celestia Barnes.

    4.     ADAMS/SMITH - Adams Family, by A. N. Adams (1898), pp. 422, 407: Hon. Henry Wm. Smith should be Hon. William Stephens Smith, as in Dictionary of American Biography, vol. 17 (1935), p. 368, and Index of Marriages in Massachusetts Centinel and Columbia Centinel, 1784-1840, vol. 7.
