  • Pilgrim Village Families Sketch: William Richards

    Robert Charles Anderson

Birth: William Richards was born by 1612, if he was an adult in 1633.

Death: There is no information on his date or place of death.

    Ship: Unknown, by 1633

Life in England: Nothing is known of his life in England.

Life in New England: There are only three references to William Richards in the Plymouth Colony records. His name appeared on both the 1633 and 1634 tax lists for Plymouth. On February 6, 1636/7, Nathaniel Sowther was granted six acres of land “where William Richards dwelt.” He had probably died or left the colony by that time as there are no other references. Attempts to identify him as the William Richards of Scituate or Weymouth have not yet succeeded.

Family: There is no evidence that William Richards married or had children.
