Life in England: William Morrell received his bachelor’s degree from Cambridge University in 1614/5. He was ordained deacon at Peterborough on May 23, 1619, and priest on May 24, 1619.
Life in New England: Rev.William Morrell arrived in New England with Robert Gorges, Governor of New England, and his group of colonists in 1623. After a brief stay in Plymouth, they removed to Wessagusett [Weymouth]. Gorges and most of the men left New England the next spring. Morrell stayed for another year, and left for England probably in the spring of 1625. That year he published a poem he had written in Latin with an English translation, New-England, or A Brief Enarration of the Ayre, Earth, Water, Fish and Fowles of that Country with a Description of the Natures,Orders, Habits and Religion of the Natives. (London, 1625).
