    Life in England: Nothing is known of his life in England. His wife, Dorothy, was the daughter of George and Agnes Jones of Dinder, Somerset.

    Life in New England: Richard Sears first appeared in Plymouth records in the tax list of March 25, 1633. His name did not occur in the 1634 tax list, and he may have moved to Marblehead by then, although the first record for Marblehead places him there in January 1637/8. He moved again, to Yarmouth, by 1639. He was appointed assessor for Yarmouth on March 1, 1658/9, and constable on June 6, 1660.

    Family: Richard Sears married Dorothy Jones by about 1637 and had three children. She was buried on March 19, 1678/9, in Yarmouth:

    • Paul was born about 1637. He married Deborah _____ by 1659 and had seven children. He died on February 20, 1707/8, in Yarmouth.
    • Deborah was born about 1639. She married Zachariah Paddock by 1661 and had eight children. She died on August 17, 1732, in Yarmouth. He died in Yarmouth on May 1, 1727.
    • Silas was born about 1641. He married Anna _____ by about 1665 and had seven children. He died in Yarmouth on January 13, 1697/8.
