Life in New England: Richard Clough originally emigrated to Massachusetts Bay Colony. His name first appears in Plymouth records in the 1633 list of freemen. He served on two juries while in Plymouth. He returned to Massachusetts Bay by 1640, and later removed to New Amsterdam by 1643 and Gravesend, New York in 1652. He disappeared from the New York records after November 7, 1657, and may have continued south to Virginia. Richard Clough appeared frequently in court records, involved in numerous land transactions and also in various lawsuits, both as plaintiff and defendant.
