    Birth: John Tilley was baptized at Henlow, Bedfordshire on December 19, 1571, son of Robert and Elizabeth (_____) Tilley.

    Death:  He died in the winter of 1620/1.

    Life in England:  John Tilley most likely lived in Henlow until he emigrated to Plymouth Colony.

    Life in New England:  John Tilley, his wife, Joan, and their daughter, Elizabeth, came to Plymouth Colony in 1620. John was a member of the exploring party which eventually arrived at Plymouth harbor. John and Joan Tilley both died during the winter of 1620/1.

    Family: John Tilley married Joan (Hurst) Rogers at Henlow on September 20, 1596. She was the widow of Thomas Rogers, whom she married on June 18, 1593.

    • Joan was baptized on May 26, 1594.There is no further record and she probably died young.

    Children of Joan and John Tilley (all baptized in Henlow):

    • Rose was baptized on October 23, 1597.There is no further record and she probably died young.
    • John was baptized on August 26, 1599. There is no further record and he probably died young.
    • Rose was baptized on February 28, 1601/2.There is no further record and she probably died young.
    • Robert was baptized on November 25, 1604.There is no further record and he probably died young.
    • Elizabeth was baptized on August 30, 1607. She married John Howland in Plymouth Colony about 1624 and had ten children. She died in Swansea on December 22, 1687.
