Life in Holland: John Hooke was the son of John and Alice Hooke. His
parents have been tentatively identified as the John Hooke and Alice Thompson
who married at St. Peter Mancroft, Norwich, Norfolk, on August 9, 1605. After
his father’s death, his mother married Henry Gallant as his second wife on June
3, 1617. In January 1619 he was apprenticed to Isaac Allerton for twelve years
to learn the trade of tailor.
Life in New England: John Hooke came as an apprentice to Isaac Allerton
but died during the first winter.
