    Birth: John Brown was baptized in Dorking, Surrey on June 29, 1600.

    Death: He died before June 5, 1684, when his will was probated.

    Life in England: John Brown has been tentatively identified as John, son of William Brown, baptized in Dorking, Surrey on June 29, 1600.

    Life in New England: John Brown was the brother of Mayflower passenger, Peter Brown. For several years before her marriage, he was the guardian of his brother’s daughter, Priscilla. He was a weaver in Duxbury, and may have learned the trade in England. He has often been confused with another John Brown who arrived in the colony about 1635.

    Family: John Brown married Phebe Harding on March 26, 1634. She was still alive at the writing of his will on April 15, 1672.

    Child of John and Phoebe Brown:

    • Remember was born about 1648 in Duxbury. She married Josiah Wormall about 1668 and had at least six, and possibly eight, children. He died in Duxbury after 1685.
