  • Pilgrim Village Families Sketch: Gilbert Winslow

    Robert Charles Anderson

Birth:  Gilbert Winslow was baptized on October 29, 1600, in Droitwich, Worcestershire, son of Edward and Magdalen (Oliver) Winslow.

Death:  He died in England by 1650.

    Ship:  Mayflower, 1620

Life in England:  Nothing is known of his life in England. He was there prior to July 1620 and probably returned between 1623 and 1627.There is no further information.

Life in New England:  Gilbert Winslow arrived in Plymouth Colony in 1620. He received one acre in the land division of 1623, indicating he had no wife at that time. His name does not appear in the cattle division of May 1627, so he had died or left the colony by that time.

Family:  His brother, Edward Winslow, also a passenger on the Mayflower, was governor of the Plymouth Colony.
