English background: Anthony Annable probably came from
the area of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, as he married there in 1619.
Life in New England: Anthony, his wife, Jane, and
daughter, Sarah, arrived in Plymouth in the summer of 1623. Jane may
well have been pregnant at this time, as they received four acres for
planting corn by the following spring, indicating a household of
four.Anthony served in a variety of minor offices, beinga deputy in
various years, and serving as a member of different committees and
juries. He and his wife joined the church in Scituate at its forming on
January 8, 1634/5, and may have been members of the church in
Plymouth.They moved with many others of the Scituate congregation to
Barnstable in October 1639.
Family: Anthony Annable and Jane Moumford married in All
Saints,Cambridge on April 26, 1619.They had five children. She died in
Barnstable, and was buried in the “Calves pasture” on December 13, 1643.
He married (2) Ann Elcock or Clark in Barnstable on March 3, 1644/5,
and had three children. He died in Barnstable in 1674. She died after
October 30, 1678.
Children of Anthony and Jane Annable:
- Sarah was born about 1620 in England. She married Henry Ewell in
Greens-harbour (Marshfield) on the 22 or 23 of November, 1638 and had
nine children.
- Hannah was born in Plymouth, probably sometime in the fall to spring
of 1623/4. She married Thomas Bourman/Burman about 1645 and had seven
children.
- Susanna was born about 1630. She married William Hatch in Scituate
on May 13, 1652, and had three children.
- A daughter was born “before her time” and was buried in Scituate
April 8, 1635.
- Deborah was baptized in Scituate on May 7, 1637.There is no further
record.
Children of Anthony and Ann Annable:
- Samuel was born in Barnstable about January 22, 1645/6. He married
Mehitable Allyn in Barnstable on June 1, 1667, and had four children. He
died in 1678.
- Esek/Ezekel was baptized in Barnstable on April 29, 1649. There is
no further record.
- Desire was born in Barnstable in October 1653. She married John
Barker in Barnstable on January 18, 1676/7, and had four children. She
died in Scituate on July 24, 1706.
