NEHGS has long been committed to serving as a nonprofit leader in the fields of genealogy, local history, and family history. As one of the country’s leading resources for family history research, NEHGS is proud to work with a number of companies and organizations to help provide access to some of the best recourses and expertise available anywhere. Some of our partnerships include:
The New England Archives of the American Jewish Historical Society (AJHS-NEA) shares space with the New England Historic Genealogical Society, 99-101 Newbury Street, Boston and is the New England Regional headquarters of the American Jewish Historical Society (AJHS.) Established in 1892, AJHS is the nation’s oldest ethnic historical organization. AJHS-NEA serves as the repository for the Greater Boston and New England Jewish Communities and is home to the reference library of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston. AJHS-NEA is located on the 5th floor of the New England Historic Genealogical Society. View our AJHS page for more information.
NEHGS is pleased to be working with Ark Media and Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. on his groundbreaking television series, “Finding Your Roots,” which is airing on PBS and will feature new episodes in the fall of 2014. NEHGS hosted Dr. Gates for the filming of various segments for the show, including the opening title sequences in our first floor Treat Rotunda. NEHGS experts conducted research on a number of guests on previous shows including Kyra Sedgwick, Robert Downey Jr., Geoffrey Canada, Barbara Walters, and Pastor Rick Warren. Our genealogists continue to assist the production team with research on guests to be featured in upcoming episodes. Learn more on the Finding Your Roots website.
