Database Images are viewed through Microsoft Silverlight. The Silverlight viewer is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems. If you regularly run Microsoft Windows, Silverlight should already be installed on your computer.
To install or check that you are using the most up-to-date version of Silverlight, click here. Silverlight will automatically identifiy your operating system and provide specific instructions for updating or installing the viewer if you do not already have Silverlight on your computer. If you would like to read installation instructions in advance, please see below:
Windows:
Verify your system requirements
Make sure you are running a Silverlight-compatible Windows operating system and browser and that you have uninstalled any previous version of Silverlight.
Download Silverlight
For Windows Internet Explorer users:
The browser will prompt you to either run or save the installation file (Silverlight.exe). Click Run to start the download. When the download is finished, the browser prompts you again to run the installer. Click Run to start the installation. Note that you must have sufficient administrative privileges to install Silverlight.
For Mozilla Firefox users:
Save Silverlight.exe to your hard disk. Once the download is finished, click Open. The installation starts.
Install Silverlight
If you are running the Windows Vista operating system, you will be prompted for security permissions. To continue, you need to approve.
Click 'Install now' after reviewing the license agreement and privacy statement.
If you have had a previous version of Silverlight installed, or are using Mozilla Firefox, you will need to restart your browser.
You can now use Silverlight.

Mac:
1. Verify your system requirements
Check for a Silverlight-compatible Macintosh operating system and browser and that you have uninstalled any previous versions.
2. Download Silverlight
For Apple Safari users:
Once the download is finished, the browser will warn you that Silverlight.dmg contains an application, click Continue.
For Mozilla Firefox users:
Save Silverlight.dmg to your hard disk. Once the download is finished, click Open. Double-click Silverlight.pkg.
3. Install Silverlight
The installer will warn you that "This package contains a program that determines if the software can be installed." Click Continue.
On the Introduction page, click Continue.
On the Select Destination page, select the destination volume for Silverlight, and then click Continue.
On the Installation Type page, click Install.
You will be prompted to authenticate. Enter your Administrator user name and password. Click OK to continue.
On the Finish Up page, click Close to exit the installer.
4. Restart your browser and Verify
Some browsers must be restarted before activating new plug-ins. Restart your browser to complete the installation.
