Facebook Doppelgänger Contest

Do you look like one of your ancestors?
If so, you could win a prize!

This week, Feb 3–9, is the annual “Doppelgänger Week” on Facebook, which invites users to post a picture of a celebrity or personality they most resemble. Here at NEHGS, we'd like to add our own family history twist!

Starting Sunday, Feb 3, we'd like to invite our NEHGS Facebook friends to post a photo of an ancestor or relative who they most resemble. If you prefer to go in the other direction by posting a photo of a younger relative who resembles you, feel free.

At the end of the week, NEHGS will select three winners who will each receive a 30-minute expert consultation and a book from our publications department. Visit the NEHGS Facebook page for more info or to post your photos. Remember, we'll need to see a photo of you and your ancestor!

Instructions

NEHGS is excited to run this promotion on our Facebook page. To upload your images, simply go to our Facebook page and post to the NEHGS wall. This will allow users to upload photos and to comment on them as well. You can post each photograph separately, share an album, or post a single picture you've created in a photo editing program. How to Share an Album

1. After you have made an album of your and your ancestor's pictures, click the gear in the upper right corner and select “Share Album…”
   
   
2. Copy the link provided by press Ctrl+C (Windows) or ⌘+C (OS X). Click Okay.
   
   
3. Navigate to NEHGS's Facebook page and paste in the link in the post box by pressing Ctrl+V (Windows) or ⌘+V (OS X). You can add more comments as long as you also post the link.
