I have the Wentworth books and there are quite a few marriages between first cousins. Has there been much research on this issue. Is it against the law in modern times? Eileen Pelletier. aepell@metrocast.net.

Regarding cousins or siblings who married within the allied lines of the family, research on my early MA lineages and my husband's Puritan lineages, shows that he and I share 14 common ancestors in the early Pilgrim/Puritan group. Not an uncommon circumstance to marry within a bloodline family in these early times.
