Has anyone seen any documentary evidence that Thomas Skidmore the immigrant to Cambridge, MA (d. 1684, later Fairfield CT and Long Island) had a daughter named Jedidah, or that his son-in-law Edward Higby (d. 1699, Stratford, Middletown CT and Long Island) had a wife named Jedidah? I can find none. Earliest mention I find, with no evidence produced, is Emily Hawley's Thomas Skidmore the Pioneer (1911). She is followed by Clinton Higby's Edward Higby (1927) and finally D.L. Jacobus, Families of Old Fairfield (1930), neither citing any document containing her name. Savage doesn't give it in either his sketch of Skidmore or in his sketch of Higby.
