Alexis Edward Gross (my grandfather) was born in the Belfast area of Maine, circa 1875, but can find no record of his birth. His two Marriages are listed in Belfast to Lizzie Kimball and Martha Colby at the turn of the 20th Century. His parents were Amos & Hattie Gross. The 1860 census of Frankfort, ME lists his father Amos age 28, and his grandmother Irene (listed as Irine) age 50.
The Frankfort Records I am told were destroyed in a fire. The Maine State Archives also have no record of his birth. I had hoped to find someone who may have the information through family records.
I now live in Connecticut, making it difficult to research in Maine.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
