I am looking for the parents of James Sellers born in either Connecticut or New Jersey sometime in the 2nd half of the 1700's (most likely around 1780). I have a record of James marrying Elizabeth Fairly (from Scotland) in New York City in 1802. In this record, he is listed as a mariner. They had two daughters, Rebecca Sellers and Ellen Jane Fairleigh Sellers.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
