Looking for parents of Asa Allen Dexter, b. 28 Feb 1819, Marion, Wayne, New York.  He emigrated to Aurora, Kane, ILL about 1840.  Great grandfather's letter said he was from the line of Rev Gregory Dexter of Rhode Island and had emigrated to Illinois with a friend, Oliver Smith.

A sister, Arminda Dexter, b. abt 1812, NY m. Jedediah Clark (Father, Thomas Clark from Chester, Windsor, VT) around 1829, probably Marion, NY.

A sister, Lydia Dexter, b. abt 1808, NY m. Bowen, then Obediah Crane.

I found a George Dexter in Marion and Williamson, NY in 1820 and 1840 U.S. census, then no other record. and a "Thankful Dexter" widowed, in his household in 1860, age 75. Arminda Dexter Clark had "Thankful Dexter", age 66 in her household in 1850 in Marion, Wayne, NY.
