Question: Are you aware of a shipwreck carrying passengers that sunk in 1861 off Boston.  The name I believe of this ship was the MARTIANE?

Answer: The passenger vessel MARITANA sank November 3, 1861.  The ship struck at Shag Rocks, south of the Brewster Islands.  To learn more about this and other Boston harbor shipwrecks go online to: http://bostonshipwrecks.org/content/maritana
