  • Bible record belonging to the Dudley family of Ireland and New York City, 1737-1868 Mss A 1686

  • The family records of Edward Dudley, Sr. and his son Samuel Dudley of Dublin, Ireland. Edward, born in 1770, married Mary Eves in Dublin “11th mo. 19th 1790”. The family left Ireland in 1800 and settled in New York City where Edward was a merchant. Mary (Eves) Dudley died in New York City in 1808. Edward re-married on 6 June 1809 to Emma Clark.

    Bible record belonging to the Dudley family page 2 The family records of Edward Dudley and his wife, Mary Eves. The parents of Edward, Eleazar and Ann Dudley, are also recorded with their dates of death.  The following notation is recorded underneath their entries by their son, “They were both interred in friends [Society of Friends] burying ground at Knockballymaher (today Corbally) in the county of Tipperary, Ireland and I have no doubt are ….iting the reward of their useful well spent lives.  Signed Edwd Dudley

    Bible record belonging to the Dudley family page 3 In the “Memorandums” section, the family records Samuel Dudley’s arrival in the United States. Samuel “arrived in the United States of America from the City of Dublin Ireland in the Brig Triton Capt. Doliver in September 1809 in company with Charles Delvecchio a passenger” Beneath this entry is a transcription of Samuel’s declaration of intent, dated November 7, 1839 at the Marine Court in New York City.
