Ways to Give

Your support makes all the difference

Philanthropy is one of the oldest traditions at NEHGS. To continue to be the leading nonprofit genealogical institution in the country, we rely on the generosity of donors to help us fulfill our vision to further the study of family history by educating, inspiring, and connecting people through our scholarship, collections, and expertise.

To help make giving both easy and efficient, NEHGS offers many ways you can support the Society:

APPRECIATED SECURITIES

One of the many preferred giving options is transfer appreciated securities to NEHGS. In most cases, donors can claim full present value as a tax-deduction while avoiding capital gains taxes.

To make a gift of this type, please contact Ted MacMahon, Vice President of Development and Member Services ( tmacmahon@nehgs.org, 617-226-1218), or Steven L. Solomon, Manager of Gift Planning ( ssolomon@nehgs.org, 617-226-1238).

PLEDGES

Making a pledge to NEHGS often enables you to make a larger gift over time. To make a pledge, please contact Ted MacMahon, Vice President of Development and Member Services ( tmacmahon@nehgs.org, 617-226-1218), or Steven L. Solomon, Manager of Gift Planning ( ssolomon@nehgs.org, 617-226-1238).

MATCHING GIFTS

You may be able to double your gift through a matching gift program available through your former or current employer. Contact your Human Resource Department to check for eligibility.

PLANNED GIFTS

Many planned gifts, such as charitable gift annuities or remainder trusts can often increase annual income tax savings.
