Question:  I understand my ancestor Rev. Peter Thacher was a clergyman to the Indians in Massachusetts.  Is there a reference that will say where?

Answer:  Rev. Peter Thacher was ordained in Middleboro, Mass. in 1709, and was associated with three Indian Pryaing towns and churches before he died in 1744.  His main association was with the Nemasket Church in what is now Lakeville, Mass.  Sadly the original church records for this church no longer exist.  This source is from Harold Field Worthley's work An Inventory of the Records of Particular Congregational Churches of Massachusetts Gathered 1620-1805. (Cambridge, Harvard University Press, 1970).
