The Íslendingabók database contains
genealogical information about the inhabitants of Iceland dating back more than 1200 years. The project goal of tracing all known family connections between Icelanders from the time of the settlement to the present also has practical applications — to help avoid dating between close relatives in this country of 300,000 people.
