Question:  What records should I examine when I visit the Family History Library in Salt Lake City when I research my War of 1812 veteran from New Hampshire?

Answer: The first series of microfilm you should investigate would be the Index of Compiled Service Records of Volunteer Soldiers Who Served During the War of 1812. (FHL Microfilm).  If her perhaps had a pension you can search the published volumes of White, Virgil D., Index to War of 1812 Pension Files. (Waynesboro, TN: National Historical Publishing Co., 1989). And if you suspect that he may have had Bounty Land for his service examine War of 1812 Military Bounty Land Warrant, 1815-1858. (FHL Microfilm).
