Question: I was looking through a diary of a relative who travelled through Plymouth County, Massachusetts in the mid-19th century.  Can you identify where she is speaking of when she mentions "Bird Island" "Silver Shell" and "Hamlin's Corner"?

Answer:  These locations are all located in the town of Marion in Plymouth County.  Marion was incorporated as a town on May 14, 1852 from part of Rochester, Mass.  This an other Section or Village names for Massachusetts can be located in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Historical Data relating to Counties, Cities and Towns in Massachusetts (Boston, MA: NEHGS, 1997).

Your article has a lot of great information and it has really helped me with my paper for a class I am taking. Do you have any other posts about this topic?
