Question: I have the 1765 inventory of my ancestor who was a blacksmith. Most items I can recognize.  Do you have an idea what a grouping described as a wormer, ladle, sponge, rammer and hand spike were?

Answer:  It appears your blacksmith was in posession of tools of a gunner.  The items you mentioned are distinctive accessories for operating a cannon.
