Question: Can you explain to me the size that a "company" and a "regiment" would consist of during the Civil War?

Answer:  The following from a military manual from the era gives troop strength as follows: A "Company" consisted of 100 men; "Regiment" consisted of at least ten companies, or 1,000 men; "Brigade" consisted of 4,000 men; "Division" consisted of 12,000 men, and finally a "Corps" consisted of 36,000 men.
