Question:  Can you tell me what the occupation of an "Upright Worker" was in the 19th century.  I found reference to this for an ancestor in the 1861 Census in England.

Answer:  This was an occupation that I had not seen before.  Though it sounds simply that your ancestor was a good worker, this actually was another name for a chimney sweeper.
