Daily Herald correspondent Eileen O. Daday on the website of the Cook County Clerk's office,, which offers access to digitized documents from the Bureau of Vital Records, including pre-1936 births, pre-1961 marriages, and pre-1990 deaths.


"We were frustrated as an office, because we want to give good service," [County County Clerk David] Orr says in tracing the website's roots. "Putting this information online makes it available to people looking into their own genealogy."
