NEHGS on the Ellen Show

Ellen Show FootageNEHGS has uncovered a family tie between comedian talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and soon-to-be princess of United Kingdom, Kate Middleton. On this clip on the Ellen Show, Ellen announced this family connection with her audience and television viewers. According to NEHGS genealogist Christopher Child, Middleton and DeGeneres share a direct family line connecting them to first president George Washington. They are fourteenth cousins, twice removed, sharing a common ancestor in a man named Sir Thomas Fairfax (died in 1520) and his wife Agnes Gascoigne.
