Question: What were the 1855 boundaries of Boston's (Ward 1 & 2) in Boston.

 

Answer: NEHGS has microfiche of Boston City Directories 1789-1981.  In the 1855 Boston City Directory (p. 373) are listed the boundaries of all ten wards of Boston.  In regards to the specific two you requested:

 

WARD 1.  "Beginning at the water, on the southerly side of the Eastern Packet Pierl thence across Commercial Street to Richmond Street, across Hanover Street to Salem Street; thence by the centre of Cooper Street, crossing Charlestown Street to Beverly Street; thence by the centre of Beverly to Causeway Street; thence across Causeway Street, and in the same direction with Beverly Street, to the water; thence by the water to the point begun at"
