Question:  I am looking for a variety of Catholic and Anglican church records for Nova Scotia.  I have used the films at NEHGS, however I am trying to plan a trip this fall to do some research myself in Nova Scotia.  Can you offer some suggestions?

Answer:  The Archives of Nova Scotia at 6016 University Avenue in Halifax is a good place to start.  They have a database of their microfilm holdings of church records online at: http://www.gov.ns.ca/nsarm/virtual/churches/   Do note that you can only examine and make notes from the records.  If you present a letter of permission from the church in question you can make microfilm copies at .50 cents per page when you visit.  You can also obtain a listing of the Anglican, Catholic and other church archives contacts online at: http://www.gov.ns.ca/nsarm/virtual/churches/churches.asp
