(A346) Re. Asaph KING, fl. in Vt., 1808, I know of two Asaph
KINGs, a generation apart from the one you seek. Asaph5
(Parmenas4, Thomas3-2, Capt. John1 of
Northampton) KING was b. at Enfteld Conn., 9 Jan, 1746/7; d. at
Springfield Mass., 10 Oct. 1834 (probate rec.). He was in Wilbraham. Mass.,
during the 1790 census. See Allen, History of Enfield (1900).
Note that my conclusions involve some peculiar migrations, Asaph and son Abel
returned to Enfield after 20 years in other towns. This raises the possibility
that the Enfield and Wilbraham Asaphs were different individuals. There is no
hard evidence either way, but based on circumstantial facts, I believe they are
the same person.
The other Asaph is mentioned in Enfield records betw. 1836 and 1846. There
would seem to be some connection with the older Asaph but none has been found. I
am interested in all KING families of New England.

His first wife’s name was Silence ___". From Deane, Samuel, History of
Scituate, Mass. (1831), p. 238. Deane goes on to list Ambrose’s ch. and
their ch. None is named Silence. Perhaps your Silence is a grandchild of
Ambrose. I suggest you look in the Scituate V.R.s for the next generation. So
far we have not been able to find where Ambrose COLE came from.

(A40) KEITH/TOWER - There are at least three of us who have some
knowledge of the KEITH family through an interest in early iron blast
furnaces. In addition to myself, one is a specialist on Vermont ironworks,
another on ironworks in New York state. While I do not have any record of the
Ruel KEITH whose par. you seek to identify, it is reasonable to conclude
that he was rel. to a Ruel KEITH of the previous generation, son of
Zephaniah KEITH of Easton, Mass., who went to Pittsford, Vt., about the
time your Ruel was born. Incidentally, the name Ruel derives from St. Regulus,
or “Rule,” who reputedly brought the bones of St. Andrew to Scotland.
